The Summoner Sisters is my first foray into this genre and I'm very happy to report that I'm totally looking forward to Summer and Lia's next adventure. Ms Hurd's knowledge of mythology is evident and her storytelling is lively, humorous, and sensitive. The sisters relationship and their sassy, serious, profanity fueled dialogue feels real and keeps the story moving at a pleasantly quick pace. Bravo, Allison!!!

Feeding Frenzy The Summoner Sisters Volume 1 Allison Hurd David Berg 9781523230921 Books Reviews

I really enjoyed this book! The characters are well developed, the dialogue is snappy (and amusing, too) and it's not predictable. I'm looking forward to seeing how much trouble the sisters can get into in the future books in the series.
Summer (aka Ms. Watson) & Lia (Sister, artist) watched in the car mirror as Sula, Montana disappeared in the horizon.
The 2 were headed to Roanoke, VA.

They found out Chelsea Eliopoulos & Brittney Reynolds were missing.
Had a monster taken them?
Detective Tom Kline & Officer Macgregor were doing their own investigation also.
What other strange/bizarre things will the girls encounter on their journey?
Who is Amelia Stroud?

Warning This book contains extremely graphic adult content, violence, or expletive language &/or uncensored sexually explicit material which is only suitable for mature readers. It may be offensive to some readers.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A fairly well written fantasy book. It wasn’t always very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish, but never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great fantasy movie, an animated cartoon, or a mini TV series. Not real sure I got the whole story content so I will rate it at 4/5 stars.

Thank you for the free Goodreads; MakingConnections; Autographed; paperback book

I really enjoyed the story - well written and fun to follow the sisters through their adventures. I appreciate that the creatures the sisters encounter are from varied cultures, so I'm sure this story line will not get old. I can't wait for the next in the series!
Had great pacing and relatable protagonists. Traveled down familiar roads, but with clever twists and original perspective on the supernatural.
I thought this book provided a great way to escape this world for the day, only put it down for the necessities) I also enjoyed having to look up the mythological and cultural references, a trait shared with a character or two, I too am a bit behind in today's fashions and mores.
Thank you Allison for a delightful read; I look forward to "Sacrifice"!
I enjoyed this book. The characters are interesting, and the world shows great promise. One thing of significant notes is that the story is an internal narration that is very dialog heavy with descriptions that are mostly personal shorthand for the narrator. It works very well for such a fast paced book, but for some people it might be a turn off. I did occasionally find myself wanting a little more detail on the appearance of some of the supernatural stuff.
Feeding Frenzy was a very creative and interesting ride! A definite page turner! The relationship described between Summer and Lia is that of any sister duo who have been together through thick and thin. It was nice to see that relationship memorialized in this book. It continuously made me wonder how things would be if my sister and I were caught in a magical journey to banish monsters. The witty banter between the sisters, slick remarks, and comical exchanges literally made me laugh out loud on multiple occasions. I am 97.5% sure that people on the train thought I was out of my mind from the constant chuckling. Through every random twist and turn you constantly wonder 1. How did these sisters end up in this situation? And, 2. How will they get themselves out of it?! But, they never failed to find a way! And even then, just when you think it’s over… mystery solved!…There is another feat to overcome!

The coolest thing about this book was how the author made it seem so “real”. Ordinarily in this genre you always feel like the hero/ine is an extraordinary creature who has been training in this art for years under the Obi Wan of spells and magic. In Feeding Frenzy you truly feel like you could be them! The everyday feel of the book was very refreshing. The cupboard ingredient for banishing monsters and calling on Greek gods, the eating protein bars on the go, and the embarrassment of having to clean your room before you let guests in made the characters that much more relatable.

All and all, Feeding Frenzy was a great first book in the adventures of Lia and Summer. I look forward to learning the back story of the sisters and how they began their career in banishing evil things, as the set up for a detailed account of that was well done and left me wanting more! My only criticism is that I wish the sisters were in the Underworld a little longer (…as horrible as that sounds). The description of their travels from the Underworld back to Earth was a fascinating journey that I wanted to last longer! But… who knows! At the rate they are going, maybe they will end up there again!
