The chase is on, and Marcus is pressing hard, will he get the girl, or give them both a world of heartache?

Prince of the Press A Powerplay Book edition by Selena Laurence Literature Fiction eBooks

When the first line of the book makes you sit up straight to tuck your legs under, you know you are in for a blissful state of reading. I was expecting sex and scandal, however was pleasantly surprised when the book went in another direction. I enjoyed the characters Renee and Marcus. As a novella, the book is a quick and easy read.

It has everything I enjoy in a book – perfect meet cute, instant attraction, and sizzling chemistry both characters try to ignore. Renee Erikson is managing heavy family responsibilities with no time for dating and romance. She especially does not want to deal with a notorious playboy who wants the thrill of a chase only to kick her to the curve when he learns about her extra baggage. Marcus Ambrose is trying to prove he is not that guy! You will enjoy the energy and effort he puts in to win her heart.

It’s both heartwarming and steamy. Definitely worth reading and I’m looking forward to other stories in the series.

Prince of the Press A Powerplay Book edition by Selena Laurence Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I downloaded this book and I am so hooked on this series that I just downloaded the next book, The Kingmaker. This story is about Marcus, a political reporter, his brother Derek, a political consultant (his story takes place in Kingmaker) and Renee, Derek's assistant. Marcus is young, carefree and interested in Renee. She has her plate full and Derek does not want his brother involved with his assistant. Well when does a younger brother listen? I don't want to give away the story but it is fun, heartwarming and hot too! If you like a little bit of political intrigue in your romance, this is the series.
I first purchased The Kingmaker, but while perusing some of the reviews, I saw this novella was actually the first part of the Powerplay series. I decided to get it and am very glad I did. Prince of the Press is a great introduction to the Ambrose brothers. Although it's just a short novella, it is well written and so very sweet with no cliffhanger. It just leaves you with a need for more of these likeable characters.

No romantic could be disappointed by this one and will probably be anxious, as I am, to continue this series ... I'm starting the next book immediately.
This was an entertaining story, if not super long. The title makes it seem like his occupation will play a big part in the story, but it really doesn't. But it was one of those stories where the boy has played around (and kinda has a reputation for it) and the girl is just trying to do the right thing for herself and her family, and something about her makes him decide she's the one he can't live without. The only wrench in the whole thing was his brother who was her boss, who basically forbade them from dating. And of course that which is forbidden is so much more exciting, right? Only that wasn't really it... it was more like "screw what you say, she's the one for me", only he didn't actually say that, which causes problems.

An interesting intro to the series... I'll probably continue with it.
I read and reviewed my personal copy of this book for Wicked Reads.

Marcus Ambrose is a political reporter and after paying his dues for a few years in Philly, he gets a job in D.C. with the biggest political news station in the world. And with is brother being the it man for making people big in the political arena, Marcus is in his element. But he is also famous for his womanizing ways. So when he lays eyes on Renee, his brothers new secretary, he is ready for the chase. But he may be getting more than he bargains for.
Renee Erikson owes a lot to Derek, her new boss. He has helped her with her job and with her Mom who has cancer and her younger brother who seems to be struggling with life in general since their Mom got sick. So Renee doesn't have time for a relationship especially when Marcus makes her mind turn to mush. She has to keep her wits about her when he is around.
Will Marcus think she isn't worth the trouble when he learns about her family? Will Renee be able to keep resisting Marcus or lose her job in the process? Can they both fight the attraction and the pull they feel when tragedy strikes?
I love Selena Laurence and this is a great story and it has a few chapters of The Kingmaker, Derek's story, at the end. And I am about to dive in to it.
Derek has one rule, his brother Marcus is not allowed to date his assistant Renee. When Marcus meets Renee, well, all bets are off. He is drawn to her strong, quiet confidence. She has a genuineness that he’s never found before and he truly wants to know more about her. Renee has been warned about Marcus’s behavior – the ladies’ man that he is – so she works to stay away from him. Her focus is on her mother and brother as she is the sole bread winner keeping the family together. But Marcus makes it very hard for her to resist him. Loved the chemistry and connection between Marcus and Renee. There are fabulous moments as Marcus’s layers are revealed, there is so much more to him that what his brother sees. Enjoyed every moment of this fun, sexy romance.
Great read. Marcus the brother of Derek from The Kingmaker, recently assigned to DC to a large media outlet. Marcus brings his one and dump rep from Philly with him and when he meets Renee, Dereks assistant he's immediately commanded by Derek to stay away. Renee had to quit college and get a job to support her mother who has advanced breast cancer and her teenage brother. She needs this job. What she doesn't need is Marcus messing it up, but there's also some pretty intense chemistry there. Renee really does keep him at arms length at Marcus sets out to prove that she is not just another game of chase for him. He's totally smitten with her. There are a couple of twists in the book. Derek is really overbearing and such a control freak. It's a great read and the novella also gives you a preview of The Kingmaker which makes up another small part of the book. I haven't read that and it's now on my list to read.
